The Last day of Summer...

This past Saturday was the last day of summer. We celebrated by attending our neighborhoods National Night Out. When I read that they were going to have a petting zoo I knew we absolutely had to go! Luke loves animal so I knew this was going to be a big treat for my little guy!

The weather was gorgeous! Still warm but with a beautiful cool breeze. We were able to walk comfortably to the clubhouse without breaking into a sweat which was really nice. We had my family over for dinner and they also tagged a long.

It was like a mini carnival with makeshift rides that Fred said he would never allow Luke to get on, doubt it! There was a mini concert, the fire and police department were there, games, food, a wonderful family friendly event!

Luke and I danced to the music and I held him close as I watched him play with a glow stick. I soaked in the moment of it just being Luke and mommy. I'm trying to soak in little moments like this as I'm reminded by the coming of autumn and wiggly kicks and tumbles in my belly that the end of next summer it will no longer just be Luke and mommy. Bittersweet.

With my beautiful mamma

I wanted to take this one home!

Luke and daddy being boys.

Sheriff stickers!

My Texas Ranger in training!

I knew all the songs, not sure if that was a good or bad thing...             Fred said I was just old!

Grapefest 2013

This weekend Fred and I had a date nigh at the GrapeFest in Grapevine! We have been going every year since we have been in Texas and we love it! We are not even wine drinkers but we are totally foodies and there's tons of food there, plus since I'm pregnant and haven't gained nearly as much weight as I did with Luke this time I am eating to my tummy's desire!

Well apart from the food, to me Grapefest just marks the start of fall. It was still hot that night but then after sunset Fred and I sat on a bench together sipping a slurpee and the breeze was gorgeous, it felt like summer giving farewell kisses! Looking forward to being able to actually hang outside and not get sweaty!

Last year we went with Luke when he was barely 2 months old! This time mommy and daddy needed some time away together! Plus we needed to break away from our usual dinner and a movie type of date and this was perfect because we haven't done anything like this together alone since Luke was born! Luke usually tags along with us in all our adventures! And now that Fall is so close hopefully we'll have many more outdoor adventures and we'll get to wear scarves and sweater and cute boots, well at least I will!

Main Street Bistro Bakey is in downtown Grapevine and it's delicious!!!

About to do work!

Festival Fave!

too much cute going on here...

yessss!

Such a fun night with my man!

Heather | A Mesothelioma Cancer Survivor Story

As the arrival of our little guy draws near Heather's Story has been so moving to me! Three months after giving birth to her daughter Lily she was diagnosed with malignant Pleural Mesothelioma, a rare cancer that affects the lining of the lungs. The joyous "firsts" that every mom looks forward to as their newborn begins to grow were taken from her as she was given 15 months to live but the Lord had other plans...

Heather found a group of specialists through the Mesothelioma Cancer Alliance and she recently celebrated Lily's 8th birthday! Her faith and maternal instinct to be there for her daughter helped her through the process of treatments and healing.

She now is an inspiration to many families and victims suffering from Mesothelioma. She shares her personal story to bring hope and awareness.

You and I may not be going through what Heather went through but her story is a beautiful reminder of God's word and faithfulness. She was given 15 months to live and look at the plans the Lord had for her! She talks about wearing "rose colored glasses" that help her see life optimistically, I believe you and I can also wear rose colored glasses that will help us see the true plans the Lord has for us!

For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope" Jeremiah 29:11
