Yields Fruit in its Season

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord and on his law he meditates day and night.

He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does he prospers.

Today I read Psalm 1. I'm moved by this on this sunny bright morning.

I've often felt like that tree with no fruit. All the trees around me are blooming beautiful, colorful flowers, so fragrant, they are covered by shiny fruit pleasing to the eye. And I'm just there, bare. My my leafs are green, I know I'm alive and I'm getting watered but why do I not see results? Why am I not blooming? What am I doing wrong?

I love this passage because the Lord reminds me that I will yield my fruit in its season. Not when I decide but when the Lord decides for my flowers to bloom and my fruit to show. Im not promised an exact date but a season to come.

It's hard though when everyone around me looks so put together so alive and I feel like my leaves will surely dry up any day now. I've had to repent of envy and judgment for my brothers and sisters in the Lord that are in a season of fruitfulness. The Lord has opened my eyes that I can be encouraged and fed by their sweet fruit when I feel bare and like giving up. Maybe in my season of fruitfulness I'll be able to do the same for others.

So I sit here typing, drinking me green tea. Ironically on the first day of Fall when all the trees around me will begin to loose their leaves, but not I, because even though I may not see fruit I will continue to delight in the Lord and his stream of water will satisfy my dry soul and I'll wait patiently for my season to come.
A few pics from our Yosemite trip this summer that I feel fit perfectly for this post!
Beautiful trees by the refreshing stream of water! I love the way the lord speaks to us through his word and creation.

Sitting on the rocks, feeling the mist of the waterfall, so much peace in Yosemite!
