McKinney Saturday

Memorial Day weekend we spent our Saturday morning at the square in McKinney. Hit up Emporium Pies, a few shops and got some awesome pics with the kiddos. The Hilton's joined us and then we took the party home for a nice grill out and outdoor dinner. Thankful for simple fun days like this. Awesome family, awesome friends. Blessed.

Let's Grow a Garden

This year we decided to grow a garden. I even feel hesitant calling my plants a garden because I just have a few plants: yellow and green zuchini, red and yellow peppers, strawberries and a couple of herbs.

I started half doubting myself which is how I start most of my projects but my motto is, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me! I literally prayed for my little plants, I prayed that the Lord would give me wisdom with how to care for them that I would know how much water to pour on those little plants and that they would not die!

I feel like through the process of gardening the Lord has spoken to me in so many ways.

As I water my plants daily I'm reminded that I'm watering the life's of my children daily as well by training them, teaching them and showing them love. Sometimes I wonder if I'm getting anywhere, am I being a good enough mom? Am I getting anywhere with these kiddos? Where's the fruit?

But like my plants the fruit does not bare over night, it's a slow process that requires patience and perseverance. What works for one plant might not work for another. Some plants may grow thorns, it's nothing I did, they were created with them and I must work around them and wait for those beautiful blossoms to bloom someday.

Sometimes pests will try to get to them and its my job to keep my little plants safe. Someday the world may try to dry out my children as well, but I need to keep guard and I can start to prepare them now by helping them grow deep solid roots.

I was also reminded of my call as a Christian to make disciples, to water the seed that Jesus has planted in their heart. The Lord is in ultimate control of the growth but I'm also called to invest in the lifes of others. Sometimes we may may not get to see the impact we may have had in someones life.

I am confident that many of us are beautiful blossoms that are a result of many who have watered into our life's, we are results of moms who prayed for us, friends who didn't give up on us and kept inviting us to church or that random stranger that prayed for us and we may have never even know.

May we continue to grow in his grace and in his beautiful time. Don't give up on those who seem not to bare fruit. Let's grow a garden!

This was my first little strawberry.

This is my pride and joy, my Basil! We use it all the time for cooking and caprese!

My squash had its first flower blossom, I wanted to eat it!
We just got a new garden box built and transferred our little plants from pots.
