Luke's Kidney

After Luke’s first doctor's appointment my little 5 day old visited the mall for the first time. He loved it and slept the entire time! To remember that day we wanted to buy him a little something from the Disney Store. And we found this! A little Nemo!
In a way Luke is our little Nemo. In the movie Finding Nemo, Nemo is born with a little lucky fin smaller than the other. How appropriate was this for him because that morning we found out Luke had one kidney bigger than the other.
For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works, my soul knows it very well. Psalm 139:13-14 Yes! How true is the word of God, Luke is a wonderful work of the Lord and so is his kidney!
Help me pray for my son as we take him to see a specialist today for his kidney. At 20 weeks and 32 weeks of my pregnancy an ultrasound showed that his kidneys were mildly dilated, they were a little swollen with liquid. The doctor didn’t seem overly worried because sometimes they clear out by birth and suggested he have an ultrasound done at birth.
So my little 1 and half day Luke had his ultrasound done at the hospital before we left along with some blood work. At his pediatrician appointment the doctor gave us the results and it showed that his left kidney was still a little dilated so we have to take him to a urologist.
Today we will see what the specialist has to say. I praise God that they were able to find this in Luke so soon. Had they not, leaving it untreated could lead to urinary infections, kidney infections or kidney failure.
I am tempted to fear, but the word of God says,“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” Philippians 4:6-7. The Lord is in complete control and he is giving me peace as I am reminded that although I have the wonderful privilege of having Luke as my son, he is ultimately the Lords and he is in his hands.
So I ask for your prayers for my little Luke today as they check his little left kidney. I know the Lord knitted him this way and has a purpose for our little Luke! I will keep you guys posted!
